De Surfskate Industries al nuevo SwellTech Surfskates

From Surfskate Industries to the new SwellTech Surfskates

Posted on November 2, 2017

Barely three years have passed since the Surfskate Industries brand was born in California. A brand that came onto the market with the intention of being the ultimate surf simulator out of the water .

For many, an excellent technifier and the surfskate with the most surfing sensations; for others, terror made table . Thanks to its revolutionary axis that rotates 360º, it is a board that, when you climbed on it, gave a feeling of instability and many people discarded it even without learning how to use it.

It was not as intuitive and easy to use as a Carver or a Slide , it required a little learning. For people who already had some control over surfing, it was easier and, when they learned how to use it, they found it very fun and very surfy feeling, partly thanks to that instability.

Aware of these details, and after listening to customer suggestions, studying and testing the skate thoroughly, they have decided to significantly optimize the trucks , so much so that they have even chosen to change the name of the brand to come out with an image and a totally renewed product, SwellTech Surfskate .

Han kept the original shape of his first board, the Premiere , in both black and white; a very nice 40" board.

They have also kept the famous 34" Jamie O'Brien Pro Model . They have made some small modifications to these, such as increasing the wheelbase, so you can have more space to spread your feet and try to emulate the position that you carry on your surfboard. They keep the Pipeline model identical, in which they have made another small change is in the Tahiti .

This one has changed the color of the upper side of the deck, before it was a white board with transparent sandpaper and now they have done it with normal sandpaper, which gets less dirty and looks prettier.

They have also kept the rear pad on all of them , which gives them that special aesthetic; In addition, if you go barefoot, you will feel that you are on your surfboard.

And they have launched two new models, the Camo and the Blackops , from a new series, the Hybrid. Both 36" long and with a very innovative design; only these will not be available in Spain until mid-December.

Where they have made significant changes is in the axes . Both the front and the rear. They have sought above all to get rid of that image of an unstable board and have improved everything that was possible to achieve a more stable board, without sacrificing the surf sensations.

One of the most significant changes, in this sense, has been to increase the thickness of the springs , both internal and external, of the front axle; and the optimization of their hooking base.

With the thicker outer springs you'll be able to put more pressure on your front foot and carve with more power, while the thicker inner springs give you more stability for smoother pumping and edge-to-edge transitions.

And since the result has been a more stable board, they have increased the degree that the board leans from edge to edge from 40 to 60 (thanks to the external springs) so you can exaggerate even more the pressure you can put on the edges. or with the balls of the feet or with the heels.

In addition, the shaft has been made an inch longer , now it is 135mm, so that you have more grip and can better and more easily mark your turns, such as the cutback or the roundhouse.

The axle as a whole is .25 inches wider to avoid the dreaded "wheel bites" , when the wheels hit your board, it stops dead and you shoot out.

They have also increased the opening angle of the "v" of the shaft , which gives more tension to the internal springs in rotation and also a more stable sensation.

The rear axle has also gone through the optimization department; They have made it an inch smaller so that it is similar in size to the front one and you can better distribute the weight between the two axles, now it is 155 mm.

In addition, they have changed the conical rubber (bushing) for a barrel , so now it has two barrel rubbers, which will give you much more stability, and will give you that feeling of grip of the fins in the water.

In conclusion, if you are one of those who tried to try the old Surfskate Industries and you backed down because of the feeling of instability, or you didn't even get to try it because of the comments you read online, we invite you to give it a second chance and try the new SwellTech , much more stable and improved .

And if you are one of those who loved it from the beginning and got hooked from minute 1, know that they have made a great effort to optimize the product and you will be able to exponentially increase the sensations you have already experienced .

Keep carving!!

I do trust all of the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They’re very convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for beginners. May just you please lengthen them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post. akbdacdacaddcagd
