Madrid is a great city and as such it brings us many positive things: culture, gastronomy, leisure, work, family and friends among others. But those surfers who live in this concrete jungle suffer from the distance to one of our objects of desire: the sea, the waves, in short, our beloved surf.
The surfer who lives in Madrid, regardless of their level, experience or origin, knows this feeling well, this state of (dis)mood that invades us. There is no day or weekend that we stop thinking about how the waves will be entering our favorite “spot” or what it will be like to surf in that “beachbreak” that we have been told so much about and that we know through photos and the occasional story of someone we know. And lucky you just got back from that perfect trip.
Far from being overwhelmed by our reality and by this feeling, the true “soul surfer” or the beginner who is hooked on surfing can find an impulse, motivation and a very good reason to get hold of the tools and overcome this paradox of the surfer. from Madrid.
Living relatively far from the waves and the frenetic pace that living in a big city entails, far from being a difficulty should be a reason to become more organized and efficient surfers, for this there are various instruments, methods and techniques that will help us. to overcome homesickness and that from Carving Social Club we put at your fingertips.
A journey to better surfing
We could separate these tools into three groups ; The first would be any activity related to functional training oriented towards surfing, either in the dry and/or in the pool, together with adequate nutrition ; At Carving Social Club we encourage you to try and sign up for our training sessions, led by two excellent professionals such as Rubén Cortés, our Sports Director, and the excellent Physical Trainer Manuel Alcol. This training is complemented with the practice of surfskate, which is perfect for accelerating the learning and improvement of the key elements of surfing techniques. At Carving Social Club we have Surfskate teachers who will make you carve and surf the asphalt and the skatepark under a teaching method developed over the years and extensive experience.
In the second group we would include equipment , specific literature and technology . It is important to have a basic knowledge or get correct advice on what type of board is suitable for the level of each surfer, the conditions of the surf and the time of year in which we are going to surf. A common mistake is to buy that first board that is not suitable for our level and that instead of helping us with our progression, it is a burden and can make us feel enormous frustration. At Carving Social Club we have a selection of HAV brand boards , you just have to ask us and we will gladly advise you to find the one that best suits your level and style. Another factor to consider is the temperature of the water where we are going to surf and its annual variation, determining the type of wetsuit to use. Finally, the basic knowledge of the environment, the different levels of each surfer, the dynamics of the tides, bottoms, currents and swells will allow you to enjoy the sessions in a more relaxed and safe way, you just have to ask us and we will gladly advise you. on all these topics, you will also find information on this in our blog and by subscribing you will be able to keep up to date, you will be able to do so in the footer of our website.
In a third group we mention surf trips , whether they are free surf trips, group or individual classes and surf coachings . For this we can always opt for the trips that we organize in Carving Social Club , where our professionals will guide you on this type of "surftrips", courses and coachings, in a way that suits your level and progression and where you will find people who share your passion. for the surf with which to enjoy these trips.
In our blog we will publish more entries detailing these topics, you just have to subscribe and stay tuned for news.
Make surfing your mantra
For many, surfing is a requirement of life (at least for us), not a sport, nor a hobby, even if you have not yet ventured into this world but you are very curious and want to try it, it is important that you understand that it is an activity that it requires a multifactorial approach, where the keys are to improve the functioning of your body, the progression of your technique and the mastery of the mental game that we all face when we are out, alone with our surf and the ocean.
From Carving Social Club we invite you to meet us and be encouraged to try this passion for waves, you won't regret it...
