If you are thinking about getting started in the world of surfing or improving your technique and style , and you have already done your research online, you will have come across the word "surfskate" (or carver as it is being called).
The surfskate, unlike the traditional skateboard, comes with a different front axle . It usually has a built-in spring or inverted kingpin that will allow you to turn your board like you do, or will, in the water.
One of the pioneer brands of this modality is Carver, and what is known as genericicide has happened with it, its name is being used as generic, to refer to this modality; as happened with Chupa chups, Polo or Jacuzzi.

It is true that the surfskate will not help you understand the waves, nor to work on your footing on your surfboard, but it is a fundamental tool to work on your posture, weights, body movement and turns once the take off you've got it down.
It will make your surfing evolve and advance much faster, especially for those of us who do not have the sea nearby or can go surfing every day. The most important thing you have to take into account is the size of the table, if you are a tall person (1.80) a longer table will be better for you. You can get a small one without problems if what you want is to go from one place to another as a means of transport, but if what you want is to improve your surfing, the idea is that you carry the same distance between your feet on your surfskate as you do on your your surfboard. Slide's longest board is the Swallow, which is the only model they've kept from last year's collection. And they have also released the Swallow Trick , which keeps the same shape and size as the previous one, only the design changes.

Another factor to take into account is the shape of the board, if you are a person who likes stability, you will want a wider board so that your foot is fully supported. If, on the other hand, you are already used to board sports, and stability is not something that worries you much, you can opt for a slightly different shape. Another very important thing about the Slides is that their front axle comes with three good risers so you will never have the famous "wheel bite", which is when the wheels touch the board when turning and it stops you cold.
It is also adjustable, you can tighten it to have a more stable feeling (to the right), especially if you are going to move or loosen it if you are going to get into the skatepark, practice your turns or warm up before entering the water. Remember to tighten the black nut on the front of the axle, not the silver one on top. Use the lightning bolt key that comes with your Slide.
