Skaters of Madrid, unite! Let's reclaim Paseo de Camoens in Parque del Oeste. #skatecamoens

From Carving Social Club, we have started a campaign to request the repair of the asphalt on Paseo de Camoens, in Madrid's Parque del Oeste.

On weekends, this street is closed to traffic and becomes a perfect space for practicing different types of skating: surfskate, longboard, carving, cruising, freeride, freestyle, dancing, downhill, slalom, or roller skating.

The problem is that the asphalt is in increasingly poor condition. There are large cracks and holes that make it difficult to skate and, in some places, can be dangerous.

It's a shame that a place with so much potential for learning, teaching, practicing, and meeting up ends up with fewer and fewer users due to the condition of the ground.

We want to reclaim Camoens

We need your help to get the message to the City Council and ensure that the Paseo once again becomes a safe place for all of us who skate in Madrid.

We have already launched several actions.

1. Notification to 010

We have reported the condition of the asphalt through 010 and have been assigned file 1677635.

The more people who report the same problem, the greater the chances that it will be taken into account.

2. #skatecamoens

We have also created the hashtag #skatecamoens to give visibility to the problem on social media.

We are writing to various institutional and political accounts to request the repair of the Paseo and we encourage everyone who uses this space to do the same.

3. Write to the City Council

We have also sent a formal petition explaining why we believe it is worth reclaiming this space.

Paseo de Camoens is closed to traffic on weekends and allows sports such as roller skating, skateboarding, and surfskating to be practiced without interfering with city traffic.

The poor condition of the asphalt makes sports practice difficult and increases the risk of falls. For the safety of users and to promote outdoor exercise, we request its repair.

Unity is strength

Camoens has long been a meeting place for skaters in Madrid, and we believe it deserves to be in good condition again.
