First Year of Our Surf, Surfskate, and Gym School in El Palmar

Today is a special day at Carving Social Club: we are celebrating our first anniversary at the Surf, Surfskate and Gym School in El Palmar.

After many years developing Carving from Madrid, opening our own base by the sea was a huge step for us.

From Madrid to El Palmar

Carving started in Madrid around a simple idea: finding ways to continue working on our surfing even when the sea was far away.

Surfskate was one of the first tools we used. With time came classes, specific surf training and new spaces to work on technique, strength, coordination and endurance out of the water.

We also developed our Surf Training program at Forus Chamartín, combining pool sessions and physical training to better prepare our students for their next surf sessions and trips.

Surf Camps brought us closer to the sea

While all that was happening in Madrid, we continued to organize trips and Surf Camps to different destinations in Spain and Morocco.

For years, these trips were the meeting point between all the training we did out of the water and real surfing.

Little by little, El Palmar took on an increasingly important role until the time came to have our own base here.

This first year has allowed us to bring together in one place many of the lines of work we had developed over the years.

The base includes a Surf School, surfskate lessons, and an outdoor training area, as well as the possibility of staying in our Surfhouse during programs and Surf Camps.

The main thing still happens in the water: our surf lessons in El Palmar.

But we continue to use complementary tools such as surfskate and physical training to work on movements, preparation, and understanding of surfing even out of the water.

A year that opens a new chapter

We are very happy with everything that has happened during this first year in El Palmar and, above all, with all the people who have attended our classes, training sessions, and Surf Camps.

After more than a decade developing Carving, having our own base by the sea allows us to continue doing what we have been striving for for years: combining different tools to better understand surfing and make the most of each session in the water.
