You arrive in El Palmar on Friday and, very often, you still do not know anyone. By Sunday, the group is usually already talking about waves, the next session and when everyone might surf together again.

That is what we want from our Weekend Surfcamp: two days in which you do not have to build the plan piece by piece. We coordinate times, equipment, lessons and the rhythm of the group according to the sea. You come to surf, learn and be part of what happens both in and out of the water.

Our season: September to May

We concentrate our Surfcamps between September and May, when El Palmar usually offers more consistent surf conditions and we have more chances of finding good waves. That is why we also keep fully booked dates visible: if one appears sold out, that group is already closed and it is worth booking the following weekends in advance.

Can't see a particular weekend? That does not mean there is no activity. Some dates are reserved for Long Weekend & Holiday Surfcamps, One-Week Surfcamps or Surf Coaching Camps.

Surf, video, Surfskate… and back into the water

The lesson does not end when you leave the sea. We review the footage so you can see what is difficult to feel from inside the wave, use Surfskate to repeat movements that need practice and, when conditions allow, go back into the water together for a Surf Libre session.

That Surf Libre session is not another lesson. There is no pressure to get it right and no constant stream of corrections: it is a chance to try what you have worked on, share waves, laugh and surf for the enjoyment of it. Equipment is included and it often coincides with the last hours of daylight, when El Palmar can be especially beautiful.

A full day at camp

We have breakfast at the Surfhouse, organise the session logistics, go into the water, come back for video analysis, eat, sometimes fit in a quick nap, train on Surfskate and, if the sea is right, finish the day with that Surf Libre session. The order changes with the tide and the conditions: here, the timetable adapts to the surf, not the other way around.

We also put a lot of effort into bringing the group together. If you come on your own, you do not arrive at a house where everyone simply does their own thing. We share breakfasts, sessions, analysis and much of the day; that shared time makes it easy for the group to connect naturally.

For meals or dinners that are not included, we usually cook together at the house or go out somewhere nearby. It is part of experiencing El Palmar at this time of year, not just coming for two surf lessons.

The price corresponds to an individual place in a shared room with a bunk bed. The Surfhouse also has one double bed. If you are travelling as a couple and would like to use it, contact us when booking and we will confirm whether it is available; requests are subject to availability. If no couple requests it, the double bed will be allocated by lottery among individual participants.

After booking

Approximately one week before the Surf Camp, we create a WhatsApp group. We ask you about your experience in the water, share the schedule, and start organizing groups by skill level.

In the days leading up to the camp, we monitor wave forecasts, period, wind, and tides to choose the times that best match the conditions.

The schedule may be adjusted if the sea conditions change, but by the time you arrive on Friday, a good part of the weekend is already planned.

Waiting list and second Surfhouse

If an edition appears full, you can write to us via the WhatsApp button on the website to sign up for the waiting list.

We have a second Surfhouse that we can open if we gather an additional group of at least five people and the house is available. In that case, we will contact you to confirm the new spot before payment.

When we use both Surfhouses, participants can be accommodated between both houses, but they are part of the same Surfcamp and share the program, meals, and activities.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience?
No. We organise the groups according to each participant's level, from people starting from scratch to surfers who are already more independent in the water.

Can I come on my own?
Yes. It is common for part of the group to arrive without knowing the others beforehand.

When does the Surf Camp start and finish?
Arrival is on Friday afternoon and the Surf Camp finishes on Sunday after the scheduled activities. The exact surf times depend on sea conditions.

Is equipment included?
Yes. Surfboard, wetsuit and rash guard are included during the activities and Surf Libre sessions.

Which meals are included?
Saturday and Sunday breakfasts and the Saturday night barbecue are included. Other meals are not included.

How do you organise the groups and schedules?
Before the Surf Camp we ask about each participant's experience and monitor waves, wind and tides to prepare the groups and schedules. If conditions change, we may adjust the programme.

How do I get to El Palmar?
Transport is not included. If you need help planning your arrival, message us on WhatsApp and we will guide you depending on where you are travelling from.

Is insurance included?
Yes. Accident insurance during the activities is included.

What happens if sea conditions change?
Forecasts can change right up to the last minute, so we organise sessions around the actual conditions and may adjust times, area or programme order to make the most of the best available windows safely. If an included surf lesson ultimately cannot take place and it is also not possible to reschedule it during the Surfcamp, you do not lose it: it will remain pending for 12 months, so you can use it on a future visit or apply its value towards a future Surfcamp. See the full policy.

What happens if it is windy or conditions do not allow surfing?
Surfing depends on nature, and wind, swell, tides and weather are part of any surf trip. A Surfcamp is a scheduled multi-day experience combining accommodation, group life and different activities, so an unfavourable forecast or the inability to run one or more surf sessions does not in itself mean that the Surfcamp is cancelled or automatically entitle the participant to a refund.

We follow the conditions closely and adapt the programme to make the best possible use of each day. If it is not safe to enter the water, we will not run the surf session and may reorganise the programme with activities related to the experience, such as Surfskate, video analysis, surf technique and theory, ocean reading, surf-specific training, mobility, physical preparation or other group activities. We will always try to use any suitable surfing window, but we cannot guarantee that every planned session or a fixed number of hours in the water can take place when natural conditions prevent it.

Cancelling or adapting one activity does not mean cancelling the whole Surfcamp. Decisions about water activities are made by Carving Social Club and its technical team, with group safety always the priority.

How are rooms and beds allocated?
The price corresponds to an individual place in a shared room with a bunk bed. The Surfhouse also has one double bed. If you are travelling as a couple and would like to use it, contact us when booking and we will confirm whether it is available. The request is subject to availability and does not guarantee allocation until Carving Social Club confirms it. If no couple requests the double bed, it will be allocated by lottery among individual participants.
